Our Marae Trip

Last Friday we went to Te Tahawai Marae. It was the first time to visit a Marae for the first time. We were very lucky to have 5 parent helpers on the day.

Danger Aboard

At dawn in the middle of the shimmering ocean in Otago two tired men were on the boat , Black attack. SWOOSH!! A huge gust of winter wind zipped around them. Suddenly an enormous black head appeared and came out of no were. The two shivering men were terrified. SPLASH!!! The great big hump back whale splashed above them. Their boat was being tossed about and it was like the hole boat was turning upside down. ARR!! Screamed the men. The whale was about 2 meters away from the boat.The whale splashed into the water."Phew!Lucky that's over"said the men."That whale was about 25 meters long"said Jeff."I'm getting hungry.I feel like I can eat that whale"said Mike."Well let's go home.I have had enough of today"said Jeff.So they went home.The end.

Once upon a time there lived  Scary Perry the Easter bunny. One freezing and frightening night Scary Perry was hiding giant and mini Easter eggs but two kids spotted him outside on the field. Their names were Sophie the beautiful and Jason the scared. He got called that name because he was always scared.They always go to Merry Nanas house for brilliant Easter but it was getting boring each and every year. Then "uh oh" they all said "gotta run"! Sophie the beautiful was curios for the first time. She went outside and there stood grumble...

Book Week!

Welcome back everyone!

New term has started and we will have another busy term. 

1. We have the Book Week next week. We will be reading and doing a range of activities around the school.On Friday assembly, we have the "Dress up as a book character day". There will be spot prize for the best dress up characters.

Room 17 will have another assembly, since Mrs G was away on the last assembly. It will be towards the end of the term. 

Our inquiry topic is about "How Maori culture and others contribute to the identity of New Zealand". Homework will be based on the Inquiry questions and we hope to learn about our unique identity of New Zealand through our community. 

As you may know that we have sports rotation on every Tuesday and also Cross Country practice on Wednesday. So don't forget to bring the sports uniform on those days 

We also have 'Botany Downs talent quest' which organised by our house leaders.

Inquiry Topic

On week 6 we had a special guest who talked to us about "Leadership". We had to work and think about Leadership from all different point of views.
Once in the ocean a giant group of little sardines worked in a team.They could turn faster than a big blue whale.I think when you work together you can do lots of other things like the sardines did.Even though the sardines are really small they made a really big team.It is amazing that they can do that because they are tiny like the smallest fly ever just one of them.I just think that it is sometimes good to work in a team because you are capable of doing.
